Poonch District is a border District of J&K State situated on the Actual line of control . District Poonch is located in the west of State bordering Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Poonch has distinction on globe map for trade across LOC and crossing point at Chakka-Da-Bagh. Poonch is separated from Kashmir Valley by gigantic Pir Panjal range, whose highest peak TATAKUTI standing at 1560 fts falls in Poonch. Historical Mughal Road links up Poonch with Kashmir Valley which is 133 km away from Shopian District of Kashmir Division. There are many tourists spots and historical religious places in District Poonch.

Poonch District is a District of Jammu Division. The major part of District Poonch has been occupied by Pakistan which is a part of Azad Kashmir territory.

Before the creation of new District Court Complex Poonch, the old District Court Complex was situated in Poonch City near Municipality Office. There is no detail history available in this office regarding the establishment of old court complex of Poonch District.
